Abstract: 

This bulletin outlines 10 reasons for integrating trauma-informed approaches in program for runaway and homeless youth. The reasons are: (1) because of the high prevalence of trauma in homeless youth, (2) to increase youth engagement, (3) to increase youth retention, (4) to promote healthy attachment, self-regulation, and developmental skill competencies, (5) to improve outcomes for youth, (6) to establish more appropriate milestones, (7) to reduce staff burnout, (8) to increase staff retention, (9) to increase organizational effectiveness, and (10) to create compelling programs for stakeholders.
