Abstract: 

This publication is a list of peer-reviewed materials on perinatal alcohol and other drug abuse. The publications listed are categorized according to (1) Background Information, (2) Prevalence of Perinatal Alcohol and Other Drug Use, (3) Economic Costs of Perinatal Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, (4) Related Resources (Resource Centers, Organizations, and Electronic Database and Communications Systems), and (5) Reference List. The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) National Resource Center for the Prevention of Perinatal Abuse of Alcohol and Other Drugs compiled the listing in its Perinatal Research Education Management Information System (PREMIS). The CSAP resource center is a federally funded program that provides information and referral services related to the prevention and treatment of perinatal abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
