We’ve all seen effective youth workers in action. They’re able to make meaningful connections and relate to young people in ways that make them feel understood and valued. What is it that makes these youth workers so successful?

In our new video series, we asked youth workers for the answer. Together, they make a powerful argument for selflessness, open-mindedness and other personal qualities that can help youth workers make a difference in the lives of young people in their programs.

In the latest video, Melissa Moody and Dawn Novy, both of Volunteers for America of Northern New England make the case for the importance of compassion and empathy in youth work.
