Two new toolkits from The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs, which works to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against and within lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities, provide information about intimate partner violence against transgender people and people of color.
Research has found that transgender people and people of color are at higher risk for experiencing violence in intimate partner relationships. They may also face multiple barriers when accessing services and seeking safety. Many transgender young people have been re-victimized when seeking services because of intimate partner violence, and many are too afraid to reach out for help at all.
