Communicating in National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, and Beyond

Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, PREP Teens for the Future

National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, in May, is a great time to tout the important work your organization is doing to keep young people from becoming parents too soon. But communication has to happen year-round too if you want to increase support for your efforts. Here's a roundup of marketing and communication resources that will help you get strategic about your outreach:

  • The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy has communication advice (PDF, 517KB) specifically geared toward community-wide teen pregnancy prevention initiatives. "Talking the Talk: Creating a Communications Strategy" includes worksheets, planning discussion guides, sample press releases, and examples of crisis communications plans.
  • In our latest feature, "New Marketing Approaches for Youth-Serving Programs," you’ll learn about putting on a full-scale rebranding effort, partnering with filmmakers and mounting a marketing campaign.
  • A few years ago, we wrote about creating a marketing plan, getting press and navigating crisis communications.
  • Our new "Promote Your Youth Program" tutorial tackles blogs, videos and social media in a series of short, easy-to-follow YouTube videos.

Publications discussed here do not necessarily reflect the views of NCFY, FYSB or the Administration for Children & Families.
