From the Family Room Blog: Reducing Adolescent Pregnancy Disparities

To kick off Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, the Family and Youth Services Bureau’s Associate Commissioner writes in the Family Room about the need for programs tailored to the lives of youth in foster care and the juvenile justice system.

“Traditional programs may assume young people have positive adult role models and stable living situations,” he writes. “As a result, the programs may not work for youth who’ve had many upheavals and traumatic experiences in their lives.”
