Just like the Family and Youth Services Bureau, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is spearheading change to end youth homelessness in 2020. To help communities join in that effort, the department recently added several partnership-building resources to the HUD Exchange website. Here are some of the resources we think will be of interest to advocates and service providers:
Community discussion starter. If you’re ready to convene a group of community stakeholders to talk about a shared vision for ending youth homelessness, you may enjoy “Preventing and Ending Youth Homelessness: A Coordinated Community Response.” The document, prepared by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), presents a preliminary vision for collaboration that can be applied to any community or combination of stakeholders.
