Youth Policy Associate: Abstinence Education
Want to join a wonderful group of dedicated people working to improve conditions for youth? A Youth Policy Associate for Abstinence Education (part time) is needed to review media stories, funding opportunities and relevant research to compile information and produce materials, such as the semi-monthly Abstinence Education E-Update, for educators, policymakers, and the public. Good writing and research skills, BA degree (MA preferred), and experience with abstinence education required. We prefer that the employee work onsite in Silver Spring, but we will consider offsite candidates. Abstinence Content Specialist
Location: Arlington, VA
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide abstinence-until-marriage content area expertise.
- Work closely with consultants and in-house editor on the development of TA Modules.
- Review and comment on materials prepared by expert consultants.
- Review and edit transcripts of technical assistance (TA) conference calls.
- Develop materials and reports as needed.
- Assist with the provision of TA to grantees as needed.
- Assist with the identification of topics and authors for future TA modules.
- Assist with the content and speakers for TA conference calls and Web casts.
- Attend weekly Abstinence Division staff meetings at the Family and Youth Services Bureau in Washington, D.C.
- Participate in other meetings as needed.
- Assist with the identification of topics and potential speakers for the annual Abstinence Education Grantees National Conference and Regional Trainings.
- Assist with the development of materials for the Abstinence Education Grantees National Conferences and Regional Trainings.
- Assist with preparations for the Regional Abstinence Education Grantees National Conferences and Regional Trainings.
- Attend and help conduct the National Conference and Regional Trainings.
- Assist with the development of meeting summary reports for the National Conferences and Regional Trainings.
- Assist with carrying out content area requests from the Federal Project Officer.
- Assist the Project Manager with the development of the monthly progress report.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
The position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of general experience and 2 years of professional program-related experience. Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills; must also be detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
