Call for Entries: The 2017 RHY Mural Contest

Community Access Unlimited's 2016 winning mural, showing young people getting past a brick wall.

The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) is pleased to announce its call for entries for the 2017 Runaway and Homeless Youth Mural Contest! Since 2011, we've asked RHY grantees to offer young people this opportunity to tell their stories in creative, engaging ways through art. The winner and two finalists will receive gift cards for art supplies to help them bring their murals to life.

Entries will be judged on young people’s role crafting an agency's mural sketch and narrative, as well as the meaningfulness and creativity of the design. One of the contest’s hallmarks is its commitment to Positive Youth Development, the idea that all youth need positive opportunities to thrive.

Judges will include a panel of FYSB staff and young people from last year's winning organization, Community Access Unlimited, in Elizabeth, NJ.

Check out our slideshow of entries received in the 2016 contest.
