Implementation and program evaluation of trauma-informed care training across state child advocacy centers: An exploratory study

Research suggests that training in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is essential for professionals in child advocacy centers (CAC). The present authors evaluated the effectiveness of a modified version of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) TIC training program among 203 CAC workers in Florida. The workers' TIC knowledge level was examined prior to the training, immediately afterwards, and in a 12-month follow-up. Results showed that participants' TIC knowledge increased significantly after training. The increase appeared to be universal among participants and was maintained at the 12-month follow-up. Analysis of participants' responses to two open-ended questions suggested that most participants were satisfied with the program. The authors suggest that CAC employees should get repeated exposure to TIC training, to ultimately improve the services they provide to victims. Modified Author Abstract.
