Youth workers may not understand why so many homeless youth have dogs. This study describes the effects over time of an intervention of canine-assisted therapy for adolescent girls who experienced trauma from sexual abuse and were either at high risk for developing Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, or had already developed PTSD symptoms.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly called SNAP or food stamps, helps bring healthy food to those who can't afford it. But many eligible people -- including homeless youth -- don't realize they qualify. A new fact sheet demystifies SNAP eligibility.
